The villa occupies an excellent location at Lagonisi (Sithonia, Chalkidiki), very close to the sea. The landscape is made up of tiny beaches inside a small, enclosed bay, which is surrounded by low slopes dotted with rocks, shrubs, pines, and olive trees. The current villa site was previously occupied by an incomplete building – a concrete frame that stood there for years.
We were involved at a point in time when construction work for the completion of the building was already underway. We were urgently contracted to undertake the detailed design project; redesign the façades; design the villa’s interiors. Also, pergolas, sunshades, and various other structural elements in the land plot of the villa. All above interventions involved choosing materials and being in charge of the furniture, lighting, and decoration.
Since the project was carried out in parallel with construction for the building’s completion, it was very demanding; especially so, considering its pressing schedule.
Architecturally, the end goal was to deliver a plain, simple and relaxed environment with a balanced design, avoiding competition with the beauty and simplicity of the landscape; instead, conversing harmoniously with it.
